Guguletfu
Guguletfu
One of the unique parts of our approach that reaches into all three aspects of a child (body, mind and spirit) is something we call “Guguletfu” - a siSwati word meaning “treasured ones.” It is our way of serving children who have special needs and their caretakers. In many areas, special needs are considered to be contagious or even a curse of some kind. These fears, albeit completely unfounded, sadly cultivate a culture of isolation for those with special needs. So, we work to tear down this misconception not only by serving and celebrating the children, but also by forming a community of relationships among the caregivers and teaching local communities the truth about special needs - all in the context and partnership of a life-giving local church.
